Self-Esteem and People Pleasing

One of the hardest relationships to manage can often be the relationship that we have with ourselves. So easily we blame ourselves, punish ourselves, get mad at ourselves, or talk to ourselves in a way that we would never talk to others. What is so striking about self-esteem is how easily it leads us to believe that the low opinions we carry of ourselves are thought by everyone else in our lives.  Often times, this leads to individuals working very hard to get others in their lives to see them in a better light than they see themselves. I’ve always felt that strengthening your relationship with yourself is imperative when working on relationships with others, which is why I work with clients to help develop and regain their self-esteem. Learning how to treat yourself as well as you treat others through therapy can be a immense gift to yourself and your mental well-being.
